The wine selection of the Debrecen IKON restaurant has recently been enriched by a set of real pearls from Italy.

From Veneto in North-Eastern Italy, which is the country's largest wine producing region, straight from the MASI vineyard. The Boscaini family were already engaged in wine making in 1772; they adopted the MASI name in the 18th century when the family bought up an estate in the the “Vaio dei Masi” valley. Today they are also responsible for managing the estate of the Serego Alighieri family, descendants of the poet Dante Alighieri.

But enough of the dry facts, let's look at the liquid reality...

MASI – BROLO DI CAMPOFIORINI –

The grape is selected from the best produce of the best vineyards. The collected base wine is added the juices of half-dried grapes and is left to age after blending. Thanks to the 24-month-long oak barrel aging, the wine may be further aged in bottles for up to 15 years under appropriate conditions. The result is a full-bodied, yet elegant wine. Its smell is characteristically dominated by fruit jam and stewed fruits. Spices include cinnamon and clove. Its flavours are reminiscent of baked fruits, chocolate and coffee. An indispensable accompaniment to cheese and game; decanting time: 1 hour.
